In a previous article, I talked about getting contractor leads through putting up your own web site and advertising your service through that. In this article, I’m going to go over pay per click advertising which is probably the most targeted form or promotion today. I think you will find this article quite helpful.
Pay per click advertising is just as it says. You only pay for your ad IF a potential customer, or lead, clicks on your ad. These ads are displayed down the right hand side of the search engine. The most popular pay per click service is Google Adwords.
In the case of the local contractor, you need to be very specific with your Adwords ads. The most important part of the process, for you anyway, is going to be geographical targeting. By default, these ads will appear all over the world. Unless you plan on doing a lot of traveling, you only want your ads to appear for the location where you live. This will keep your ads from appearing anywhere else.
Secondly, you want to target keywords that only apply to what you do and where you are. For example, if you are a plumber in NJ, you want to target that keyword phrase specifically. Believe it or not, there are 1,300 searches a month made for that keyword phrase. Think of how many new customers you could get if you were to use Google Adwords and target that phrase, Each state, for each type of contractor, is going to have a certain number of monthly searches. Some of them are quite numerous.
Another thing that is important with your Adwords ad is how you word the ad itself. You only get 3 lines for it so you have to make each line count. The first line should probably be the keyword phrase itself, such as “Plumber In NJ”. The second line should be a call to action…something like “Call now for fast service”. The third line might be something that assures the customer such as “We guarantee results.” Like I said, you only have 3 lines so you need to make each one count.
Pay per click can be very effective if used correctly. In my signature is a review of a great resource that will help you get all the contractor leads you could possibly want.
